I bought a cheap Chinese 25cc top handle for a one off job which it did and it is now in the shed. It works fine but it feels really flimsy and straight out of the box it would only run flat out, the throttle did not make any difference. I sorted the linkage and used it but if I could have bought a cheap pro saw second hand I would have.

I'm not a pro, but I had experience with a Lidl (discount store) saw made by Husqvarna subsidiary Poulan. I got taken in by the price (150 euro) which was better than either the low end Husqvarna or Stihl (200 euro) and it was "Made in the USA"-- as an American, how could I resist buying one of the few US made products for sale in Slovakia?

Well, it lasted for a season, then gave out when I started cutting a fallen cherry. Eventually got a compression tester and determined that either the rings or the cylinder were letting the compression go. It may not have been totally the saws fault. My father-in-law was using it some, and who knows if he didn't put in the wrong gas mixture-- rural Slovak men are not, for the most part, perfectionists on these little details. :-/

Nonetheless, the repair would cost me almost 50 euro in parts alone, so I got a better saw, and am saving that one for a future father-son learn/repair a gas engine project when he gets older.

Pay now to get something a bit better, if you buy on ebay you're out of luck for warranty service and you don't want to be shelling out 90 pounds every year for a new chinese saw.
