Freelance Climber?

Hi

Im am looking for a bit of a change of direction within tree surgery and was thinking of becoming a free lance climber.

Is there any advise on how to go about this,

Will i need my own insurance or will i be covered by the company i am sub contracting too?

What would be a good competitive day rate for the kent area for a experienced qualified climber?

Will i need to register as a company or just self employed?

Any help and feedback would be great

Many thanks

Andy

Set yourself up at a sole trader (Andys tree care or something of the sort) and start asking around getting in with some companies a day here a week there and before you know it you could be turning work away, I've been subbying for about 3 years on and off and it has it's good points and bad, just make sure you account for your tax allowance and your stamp in your rates and I'd say save save save for as long as possible because you never know what will happen! As for insurance the companies insurance will cover you unless you are doing your own work In which case you should get some, i have insurance but i do my own work if i was you yo keep costs down I'd just insure kit and life insurance

Hope this helps
