Me and Guns were reminiscing about work in Hatfield Forest last summer. Good work, laughs and sunshine.

I hate the long winter and this bleedin recession!

For me theres nothing better than working on a warm summers day, working on a nice tree.

 

Got a couple take downs to do 2moz, and the forcast is looking good (oops i've said it now) lol so hopefully a good day ahead

Hatfields got an event on (re-cutting lappsed pollard/coppicing) I think it's on the 28th.

Gonna try and get booked on.

The Ash is on the main drag into Eastern Lodge, Little Eastern. The 28th March? I hope not as I'm away then, I'll have to pick your brains again if so.

Technically Gunns is spelt with two n's.

Restoration of coppice and lapsed pollards

 

Ancient Tree Forum/Small Woods Association/National Trust

 

Hatfield Forest, Bishops Stortford, Essex The Ancient Tree Forum, Small Woods Association and National Trust are meeting at Hatfield Forest to look at the restoration of coppice and lapsed pollards.

 

The morning will be led by Ade Clark, Property Manager, to look at coppicing and restoration coppicing and the afternoon (which will end at approx 4pm) will be led by Ted Green, Ancient Tree Forum, primarily to look at old pollards and restoration pollarding.

 

Hatfield Forest has been chosen as there have been some very interesting, pioneering, restoration techniques in the management of coppice and old pollards.

 

Meet at the Cafe car park 10.30 for 11.00. Please bring packed lunch or buy at the cafe.
