Not so fast young man I sat my moon gazing hare in 1/4" of linseed oil in a bucket and it has split no further.

Seal it and it will last longer.

I dont bother with it personally. But I love the colour,grain & smell of it! After 5 years of carving I'm beginning to prefer carving softwoods, cedars, firs, sequoia etc. Still do alot in Oak and yew but enjoy the quick cutting and weight difference :-)

I am using it as I like the grain and colour but mostly because it's what I could get
