Sawn Oak Prices

Hi, I am currently sorting through a load of oak which was milled back in 2009 and been stored undercover ever since. We have all sizes of boards up to 4inch thick all rough-sawn. I am trying to workout what the approximate value per cubic meter would be? I'm getting £800/m3 from one guy but looking to shift more off it.

Does £800/m3 sound about right?

Haven't sold sawn hardwood before so any advice would be appreciated

Slightly on the low side (£22 ish per cu ft) but then thick boards needed much less work to cut.

I think for small amounts £30-35 per cu ft is more realistic for green oak. Might get more for well seasoned stuff.

I generally sell air dried for £10 less a cubic foot than kiln dried. For us, the kilning at the end is only a week, whereas the air drying takes at least 8 months depending on thickness.

For me, my air dried oak is anywhere from £25 (garden furniture grade) to £45 a cubic foot (quarter sawn brown). That is £882 to £1588 a cubic metre.

Frankly, I think that that is too much, but I'm still cheaper than my competitors and I am in this to make money!!
