020 problem

I have an 020 that is fireing up on choke ,then on 1 but as soon as you give it some throttle it just cuts out,any help much appreciated.

Air leak. Could be lack of fuel getting in.

 

Blocked fuel filter

Blocked carb

Incorrect adjustment

Leaking boot

Leaking crank seals

Leaking crank case

 

To me sounds like classic air leak. Could just need a good clean out on the carb tho. First step try a good known working carb.

Thanks for that,I was thinking fuel starvation.could that be the pipe from tank to carb?

Chances are it could be or it could not. Removed it and the tank filter and check the pipe for cracks or splits. Then clean the filter or replace it.

 

I would try a known working carb if you have one.

Just to add to Riches post, an airleak is very possible on any of the parts he mentions.

 

On the carb side, it may be crud in the gauze filter stopping enough fuel getting through at high speed or possibly an unseen blockage in the high speed circuit of the carb - removing the H screw and blasting some carb cleaner in to its hole nay get it working again.

 

The 020 carbs can be interesting to tune and have a bit of a knack so take care.

 

This bogging can also be a sign of a partially seized or low compression machine - had this in the past!

Could that be the symptoms of a dodgy accelerator pump or was that just on the 200T?

The 020 carbs don't have the accelerator pumps. IMO the old carbs are still the best.
