Newbie Ex-Army Questions! NOVICE ALERT!! :-)

Thanks Steph!! Is a ground saw different to one I'd use in the tree!? (Novice question number 1) (many to follow) haha! :)

 

(Hope you're not taking the p*** here!) A normal saw has a rear handle, you need both hands to operate, is used on the ground.(CS 30 & 31).

I'm a groundsperson so I cut up lowered branches, prepare the brash for the chipper, log bits of timber up, fell trees etc. A climber normally often uses a 'top handled ' saw for working up a tree, that you only need one hand to work, you need a special NPTC to be able to use a top handled saw up a tree! You are not supposed to work a top handled saw on the ground in any circumstances.

A climber will also use normal saws up a tree to remove larger branches, and the main stem etc, and a top handled saw for smaller stuff (or a hand saw).:001_smile:
