Stihl FS400 Clutch Problem

In Order to fit the new Clutch i need to remove the bottom piece that the 2 Bolts fit into

 

it is held on by a central bolt

 

( clockwise or anti to remove )

 

It sounds like the bottom bit you refer to is the clutch carrier. Your new clutch already has one with it.

 

The central 'bolt' is in fact a hex head cast into the carrier, so its no good trying to hold the carrier and turn the nut, they are all the same thing.

So you need to use a piston stop of some sort, even if only a bit of starter cord. to stop the engine turning, then using a socket on the hex undo it in standard anti-clockwise direction.

Thats the Proplem on the Clutch Carrier one of the 10mm Bolts has snapped off and i cannot remove it

Is it not possible to just remove the Carrier from the Crankshaft

Doing gardenkits idea is best. Use a piston stop or pull cord in the cylinder will stop engine moving. With the cord ensure piston is up near the top or you risk trapping cord in rings.

 

Then undo the centre bolt.

Ok piston stop the engine and undo the carrier from centre nut.
