I've seen people using the long curly keyrings in the past and also those ID badge recoil devices. A tutor of mine had a silky pocket boy on a wrist strop!

 

I used that arrangement before I moved to a fixed blade and a SAWPOD.

Worked quite well! :thumbup1:

I rarely drop mine. It never comes out of the sheath when I don't want it to because the tsurugi locks in. A tether would just be in the way and get tangled on everything. Good idea if you drop them when you are cutting a lot though :) or for competitions where you are disqualified if you drop it.
