Thought i'd start a new thread documenting some of the Dutch Elm Disease work ive been undertaking over the last few years. More recent pictures and info will follow as this season progresses.

This particular veteran has had many branches removed over the years in order to try and save it. 2 years ago there was a major limb failure and shortly after that a slight infection to part of the crown. For safety reasons it was decided that it should be removed completely. After felling the extent of the decay was obvious.

Bit ambiguous for me, do you mean vascular symptoms of the DED or are you refering to decay of the wood?

Sorry I can be quite vague. I meant the decay of the wood as in why we decided to fell instead of again cutting out the infected branch in hope.
