Hello, I recently passed my CS38 and CS39 training; but currently not working in the arboriculture industry as yet, due to a possible promotion in current job.

I'm thinking of buying my own climbing equipment just to practise knots, different climbing systems and maybe the occasional recreational climb. I just wondered if my equipment would still need Loler testing, if it wasn't being used for work? It eventually will be, but at the moment it won't.

Sorry if this is a dumb question

Cheers

Scott

short answer is no. And welcome to the forum:thumbup:

If you buy it new and use it for work, you're good for 6 months from date of purchase (possibly date of first use... Not sure on that.) without Loler certificate. You don't need one if you're just climbing recreationally.
