In what way, as in when would it be used?

You can use it in place of a portawrap for adding some friction to lower small pieces. It's not tuneable like a flying capstan with which you can vary the number of wraps to control descent, but for light stuff it's a quick and cheap solution. that help?

thanks :001_smile:dont own a lowering device yet,biggest rigged pieces normally controlled with Munter Hitch,wich causes lots friction on rope.seen figure 8 on rigging section of catalogues :001_tongue:waz wondering how would that work

I use one in my lowerable base anchor system, works well. Exact same set up could be used for rigging, sling choked round the base of the tree, clip the fig 8 into it and lower from there...
