But also that with special circumstances (i.e structural faults) pollarding may be initiated (as the standard suggests in annexe C) on larger dimensions than those within the "normal parameters" I.e as the standard suggests 50mm-200mm

Yes, basal rot etc. causes need for late-in-life pollarding cuts; or a hard reduction. Lozzatrees, in Sevenoaks just uphill a stones throw from the train station is a lime with basal issues on the corner--did that one ever get pruned?

Don't know the tree, there are a lot of Lime trees in Sevenoaks.

:confused1: Corner of which road? I'll look out for it next time I drive past the station.

first road up the hill; i'll try to dig up pics; "can't miss" the tree, it hangs over the road.
