Having sold logs for a good few years now I have a number of customers that keep asking for kindling, so not wanting to let them down I have been chopping up off cuts by hand for a couple of bags to keep them happy.

I would like to offer kindling for sale properly from now on so is it best to buy a machine and process loads myself or just buy in bulk off someone on here?

Ive looked into costing a kindlett, but the time you take into account, getting the right wood, time splitting it, bags etc,,,I cant beat the £1.60 per bag gensteve on here sells it for!!!I just buy in bulk and store it,,,,,,,,

The right type of wood isn't a concern as I'm currently installing a large forrestor bandmill so I'm going to be overrun with off cuts perfect for kindling

What sort of offcuts do you get from your saw mill. I have looked very closely at the figures you should get 60 bags an hour from a kindlet. But it takes nearly as long to prep the planks to 6" so thats 30 bags an hour a few knot jams down to 25 bags an hour. My wife runs the kinlet as a side line. I could not afford to employ someone to run it. May be we could part ex your wood for kindling.
