Cherry picker faulty

I seem to be having a problem with my CTE cherry picker, to operate up, out and slew out is fine, but when you need to come back all actions are very slow, I have checked the hydraulic fluid level which is ok, I have yet to change the filter, I'm assuming that changing the filter won't make any difference due to the boom acting normally going up and out.

If anyone has any experience with these machines or has come across the problem in their travels I would be grateful for any advice.

Many thanks in advance.

First port of call, change the oil and filter making sure the oil is the correct grade. Then the pressure needs to be checked. Could be the pump or pumps if they're more than one. Or could be a solinoid if it has any. Happy to look at it if your near Sussex.

Many thanks for the advice, unfortunately for me I'm miles away in Devon, if its the pump is this a costly repair?

Could it be a sticking check valve. you know what I mean the valves that if a hose burst stops you falling to the floor but they also control decent, sometimes get blocked if the oil is dirty or as they get older they stick so slow to release the pressureised oil.:thumbup1:

Thanks for the advice, I will check.

I think you ought to try and check your emergency lowering, if the screw caps aren;t fully undone this will give you limited travel to your spool valves, highly unlikely to be an oil or filter issue, if you need to change hydraulic oil then there is something seriously wrong with the hyd system, as this oil doesnt break down like engine oil. if your gonna change then a 32 grade oil will do.

Thanks Chris.
