Sulphur tuft-saproxylic/saprobic/saprotrophic...its all good. No cause for alarm looking at that. Oak is rock hard-especially heartwood. Heratwood exposed = strategy. Seriously..responsible for what?

Any future works, I didnt mention it on the pictures but its also had Fistulina for about 5 years.

Fistulina hepatica is a parasite capable of structural failure in late stages.:sneaky2:

 

Ive seen ( and reduced ) oak with fistulina...Was quite alarmed to see such extensive decay...At the same time, I was quite surprised to see such structural and residual strength in the host despite the infection.... :sneaky2:

Where large heavey limbs are leaving the stem at the point of decay considerable structural weakening occurs, ergo Fistulina hepatica is capable of instigating structural failure, a facultive parasite.:sneaky2:
