been thinking about it, this one I mean, had these been apallanatums-lipsiense thay would surely be reveling in the now dead wood, but being as they are struggling and not adding bigger layers (wood is now dead) does this not suggest more toward the australe panic fruiting? seeing as it likes its food with a pulse?

What if said deadwood was at it's end game interms of providing enough even for the likes of applanatums ?

Australe IME is the one single gano that is long since gone before a trunk is "pulped" pfeifferi, resinaceum, lipsiense=applanatum will all be there in one form or another well into a degraded state.

 

with the exception of lime and chestnut! which Australe turns to mush
