i am looking at doing beeline splice but dont really like the locked brummel, as the eye is exposed and can snag. i know dip in something to protect it but anyways.

so my question is to you splicer out there is it ok to do Normal Class 1DB on Beeline? does the diameter matter also? if not then what are the reasons?

Hey Matt, the old 10mm is class 1 as its a polyester core, the new 10mm with the blue flecks is a locking brummel and the 8mm is a locking brummel with exposed eyes, people have done class1 splice with 8mm beeline but they aren't recommended due to how slippy the core is.

Cheers Ewan,

has there be tests on this slippy bugger? or is it recommendation from Yale? @ top climber i say it goes the same for 9mm stuff i think it is basically the same as 10mm know? i love this as hitch cord but i dont bother splicing it as takes too long and changes how the hitch works.

People have tested it but it's what Yale recommends, the new 9mm has a high mod core so it's not splice able with a class 1. The 10mm with the black and yellow/red fleck is pretty much a complete different rope, polyester core so that's class1 . Yale haven't made it easy for people haha
