due to the cold weather its taking ages to dry, and i`m covering a large area, so slow on the turn round,,,i bought mine from finnishes direct! I am putting three coats on as the benches are going to my local, and want to make sure the finnish is good or will never here the end of it,,lol

I had a friend with the same problem, not drying.

On the can it said apply a single coat, by applying three coats there is an excess and cannot dry out, its the same as applying 3 coats of varnish, it needs to cure inbetween coats.

I would reccommend warming the oil, not boil it, it tends to turn your brush into a stick ;)

Warm the wood and apply the warm oil and wipe off any excess, dry within the hour, the customer can continue to apply the oil as and when the wood looks a little dry, warm oil penetrates the wood and dosnt site on the surface so easy.

 

I do the same with varnish, remove excess between each coat, result, a thin but very durable finish.
