I converted my Rayburn from oil to wood for around £200, you won't get cheaper than that.

 

to do that it must have once been solid fuel. you can't convert a standard oil rayburn to solid fuel. it is a door missing for a start. shame os i'd be delighted if i could.

I bought a recon supreme, which I think is the predecessor to the 345.

Paid about £2k for it installed including vat (although I did connect the flue myself) and it heats a 4 bed house with 15 rads comfortably down to just below freezing. Below that it needs a bit of help from the wood burner. That's more down to being in a hole with no draw when it's still though I think. And our house is a victorian farm cottage which has been extended, it's not particularly well insulated.... I love my Rayburn!
