I went today to GreenMech with a little scepticism, my only encounter with their product some 15 or so years ago via a hired A Plant tracked chipper which had left me scarred to date ( life if not for today) not a good machine, in fact enough to make me rush past their stand looking at yellow and red machinery and occasionally orange sections of many a saltex AA and APF shows.

The day started with a relaxed assembly with tea coffee biscuits with a welcome from MD short introduction with history of the company to present day, Pet B getting the short straw to operate the slides with commentary, this followed by tour of the factory most components made in house, cleaned and powder coated and assembled on site, the only chipper made in the UK ? Possibly! We were allowed access to all areas and with conversation to operatives from the raw steel to the finished chippers being PDI’d . Lunch, very good, preceded demonstrations of various machines from Steve Blair’s favourite ‘we chipper’ to the rail contractors tracked go anywhere rescue itself if breakdown chipper . A chance For Q & A a little feed back form then free to join the traffic to get home.

I would not of thought I would have said this but if you are buying a new chipper you should consider a visit to the factory and or a demonstration of their product, don’t rule it out without a look you may be surprised.

Pete thanks for today to you and your colleagues, most informative, interesting and good to see manufacturing here and relevant to what we do, I hope to be in a situation where I can give feed back to you about your machinery! I hope you reap rewards from your efforts cheers.
