The company has grown by over 20% every year for nine years running with turnover now exceeding £42 million annually. Ground Control is a major supplier to Network Rail and in addition focuses on large regional and national contracts with multi-site operators.

‘We have an excellent opportunity for a dynamic individual to join our rapidly expanding national arboricultural and vegetation railway management team.

Role and Responsibilities

 

To work with the Contract Manager to deliver our vegetation management contracts for Network Rail. The role will include the survey of sites to evaluate vegetation clearance work required, safe systems of work to be set up, resource requirements and timescale to complete the work in a safe and cost effective way. In addition you will assist the Contract Manager with the planning, safety and quality of the work.

Rail operations will involve weekend and night working. Work may require staying away from home location as determined by specific contract requirements.

Key Competencies

The candidate will ideally have had some, but not necessarily all, of the following experiences before joining:

• Highly safety conscious.

• Hold or have held or successfully complete PTS (Personal Track Safety) IWA (Individual Working Alone) qualifications and subsequently COSS (Controller of Site Safety ).

• Experience of arboriculture or vegetation management

• Well developed people management skills and the ability to work well in a team environment.

• The commercial acumen to contribute to the running of a profit-making operation.

• Excellent organisational, communication and planning skills.

• A valid driving license is essential. While a clean license is desirable, this is not essential.

• IT experience.

Initial and random alcohol and drug screening is a client condition of employment.
