LOLER test wilts

Anyone know of anyone able to carry out LOLER inspections in north wilts?

Used a well known ag machinery dealer last year, the bill was eye wateringly large (to inspect a front loader tractor, guy was done in less than 15 mins).

tommy, i cant remember the exact amount but I think the invoice was for 3 hours labour, which I thought was a bit much as he was done in less time than it took me to finish my cuppa!

Sounds about right, it costs a lot of money to train up someone correctly to carry out LOLER type testing and there also a lot of responsibility comes with signing that sheet should something go wrong later... Few people (testers included) realise the implications with the law and how seriously accidents with lifting/access equipment are viewed by the HSE. As I am sure you are aware, 'negligence' is a big word these days.

I think £150ish is the going rate for general plant? Whether it takes three minutes or three hours is up to the individual tester, in the eyes of the law.

You need a loler inpspector specific to the equipment being tested, arb loler inpspectors cant do machinery cranes etc. If its Ag machinery then an AG tester is required and chance are they all charge 3 hr minimum.

thanks for the input fellas. Had machine inspected by local ag machinery workshop in the end.

A colleague with training in ag engineering is convinced that as experienced operators we are able to inspect the kit ourselves, I think similar has been discussed in another thread. Bottom line is that man from the insurers wants it tested and the certificate/sticker issued so thats what we have to do!

You could do it youself or not bother with it at all its your choice. But as you say if the insurance requires it then you do it how they want it.
