Hi All,

Major newbie here!

My situation is, Im 22 and I run a grounds maintenance business, I love what i do! But would really like to get into Arb. I have a good (ish!) knowledge of tress, identification and so on. I have also done a bit of climbing/ground work and have my own saws and climbing kit ETC....

I currently have no tickets (cs) So at the end of this month i was panning on doing my cs38.....

so my question is:

what is the best route into work? go in as a compete newbie!? get a cs30-31???

would really like to get some work (part time) to gain experience!

Go easy on me!

although i have done un-qualified work, i dont drive round in a tranni tipper with greedy boards ;)

Welcome to the forum, and well done for thinking of asking for advice. There will be many that will tell you that the industry is full and another shark in the tank is not wanted/ needed. If you start by obtaining your saw tickets to begin with, you will be of much more use to your customers, and any climbers you assist. I think that your grounds maint' work would possibly benefit from this, and by the time you look to take your climbing tickets you should have a good level of saw experience to assist you. Make contact with as many local arb businesses as you can, and some may offer you some work clearing up/ groundie work. Its a lot of unknowns but unless you can afford to ticket up straight off the bat, i feel this is how i would approach the subject.
