Stripped my little Husky 240 down as piston needs replaced. The cylinder has these plastic transfer inserts. I've never seen these before and my first thoughts were to remove them, modify them.

The exhaust and inlet ports have a little room for improvement as well.

muffler mod also looks a dead cert as it sits on its own at the moment winking at me :sneaky2:

Any advice/information would great thanks.

This is now my dedicated carving saw so having it run a bit cooler would be advantageous.

Hi, the 240 is an airhead engine and needs to have closed transfer ports.

ctp cylinders are expensive to produce compared to open transfer. so using a plastic insert is an inexpensive way of producing a ctp cylinder from what is effectively an open transfer type.

Thanks for the information. :thumbup1: I've replaced the piston and put the plastic inserts back in. Saw is working fine. Modifications will just have to wait.

Thanks Petemate. I'm happy that it's now usable. I hate having tools lying about that i can't use.

So your saying there is still a chance. hmmmmm.:sneaky2:
