Our 1986 telehandler seems to be binding on the brakes on one side. I seem to have a manual for most of our kit but nothing for our jcb done a search on line but nothing helpful. Does anyone know the setup and what oil goes where. It has hydraulic brakes but I have a feeling its not brake fluid in the master cylinder. Thanks in advance for any help its broken at the wrong time asits needed big time in a couple of weeks.

Hi There your JBC 525 runs Hydraulic 15 oil through the master cyl if DOT 4 is put in the seals turn to jelly.

The brake system is boosted by a priority valve working on slightly lower than normal Hyd pressure.

I would suggest draining the oil from the front axle to check for brake wear there are a couple of different axles used but the idea is the same. if the oil is very grey/black and small paper like particles are found in the oil then think the worst. also if the oil is over full this could suggest a seal leak inside the axle. they work on a multi plate system nothing too complected but difficult to explain here pm me if you require further info i do also have manuals for these machines if required.

Best of luck

Paul.

Thanks Paul especially the advice about the brake fluid. The oil levelin the centre of the axle was about 1/2" down I stuck my finger in and it felt very black and gritty. I assume hyd 32 will be too thick I was thinking of bleeding brakes and flushing some new hyd fluid through the stuff in ther reservoir looks a bit thick and stale. also I could check after a few minutes the bleed nipple is not holding pressure. I assume I need to drain the axle before I take the two inspection covers off.
