I've found it difficult to get 'wind speed' info from the met office Matt, they tend (in my experience) to only hold data on daily mean temps, rainfall and total sun hours.

TRy and get hold of your specific local met office/ weather station number

Thanks guys. I called the Met office and they directed me to the info on their site. Its buried but there. It does have wind speed but not gusts.

Heres the link for future ref.

Cheers Matt, that will be useful for future reports for sure.

Not as useful as I'd hoped, as it only appears to be a record of the preceeding 30 days.

I've just put together a report for a insurance/tree failure incident which occured in the storms of June.

The only way to get the data from before the last last 30 days is via request and subsequent quote.

(funnily enough from the Devon office)

To get a fast tracked historical hourly data report for wind direction/gusts I was quoted the best part of £200 but I could have a cheaper version if I joined the queue.

Very indepth data sets (if required) and useful contact though :thumbup1:

Think I'll try and get on top of post tree failure data collection a little more urgently in the future.

If anyone would like the contact let me know
