PPE questions RE CS30

Hi folks,

I'm going legit:sneaky2: and have signed up for CS30. I've read the pre course info sheet and was wondering how stringent tutors are?

In the leaflet it says" Protective boots* (complying with BS ISO 20345:

2004)" I've some chainsaw wellies that pre date this 2004 thing and have some mouse nibblings at the top by the lace/draw string :001_rolleyes:.

They've served me well and as far as blocking material they are still fit for purpose. Would I be pulled off the course for not complying? Will I need to shell out and upgrade/replace?

Haha, I've been using saws safely for years but now I'm confronted with rules and regs I've gone all paranoid!

I would have thought the boots should comply still, can't see an issue, so long as they have a toe cap and contain blocking material to the standard you quote. But why would you choose to wear wellies when there are some reasonably priced chainsaw boots on the Market?

Hi Andy,

Cheers for that, think I was just letting doubt get the better of me.

TBH I'd love to upgrade both my boots and kecks but I can't really justify the investment yet. I bought the wellies cos they were the cheapest option at the time and I only needed to use them very occasionally. A few big jobs and I'll be up for some decent boots and kecks.
