husky 385xp starting issues

starts fine on choke and runs fine,but will occasionally stall and then will only start if choked again,same if you turn the saw off and try to restart,very limited carb adjustment on this bad boy,3/4 turn on hi/lo screws,but dosent appear to have those limiter thingios, any advice please

Personally I would check the normal fuel lines filters - make sure the fuel tank breather is clear - worth seeing if loosening the fuel cap and doing it back up before starting helps it starting.

 

I would clean the carb - the IPL states the saw should have limiters fitted, standard carb settings are 1 1/4 turn on both carbs and would check the gauze filter is clear, the diabhrgm cap is clean of sawdust and the metering arm height is set correctly.

 

Not sure how the carb can only have 3/4 turn if limit caps are not fitted - have the carb off and give it a good look at:thumbup:

ah right, i reckon part no 537 06 95-01 is a limiter then?

 

Thats the outer part, part 537 07 00-01 is one of the caps and pushes on to the end of the H&L screws and are often blue and red - sometimes white.

 

If you dont have a black metal screw head on the H&L screws to adjust, you have limit caps!
