mature oak with G. australe worth keeping?

Hi all i have just surveyed a tree which is going to be within 2m of a farm out building just wondered if it was worth keeping. i know tony has informed me that oak can cope well. the crown has some die back and a bit sparse. heres some pics

sever the ivy for a start!

 

If your going to be doing groundworks in the RPA then youll probably kill it in the long run anyway, 2 metres is just too much.

 

2meters may be plenty far away, if the foundation is not a continuous trench but set on posts. Other factors include: what is done with the rest of the rooting area, what is done with the crown, etc.

 

The only way to assess the decay would include measuring it. :thumbup1:
