150 engine dies when chipping

Hi all.

I have a 2004 150 and had it from new and has been fab for a long time now. Recently however it has been dying off when chipping at full revs periodically. All levels are good etc. I have tightened up the ignition barrel as i thought possibly vibrations could be causing the switch off. Could it be the fuel cut off solenoid? It seems tobe intermittent and only at full revs. . . . .

Any ideas/advice much appreciated. Thanks in advance,

Andrew

Hi Andrew

This does indeed sound like a fuel shut off soleniod related problem, Try checking the solenoid itself, the solenoid has 2 coils within it, one is to pull the valve open while cranking allowing fuel to the cylinders and facillitating start and the other is to hold the valve open during normal running. The wiring for the hold coil goes via the water temperature sender and the oil pressure switch and through a relay. So any of these could influence its operation.

Try giving Timberwolf's Technical support helpline on 01449 765820 a call they can talk you through the shut off valve tests
