Ash with gano?

Crown is healthy, tree is in a lawn in a back garden. Slight lean toward neighbours property.

Client has only been in property a few weeks. I suspect the lawn installation involved lowering the soil level around the tree and caused root damage.

Bark sounds a bit flaky around the brackets but looks healthy everywhere else.

I cant offer much without pics of descriptive comments, other than it will probably require a reduction.

PICUS. Too hard a reduction may hasten the decline. Get a succession tree in.

We have a similar one near us where the client wishes to retain the tree. Bit more than just a bit of gano at the base though. 2 people could fit in the cavity at the base. Only a CA so shouldn't be too much of an issue as there is no way the TO can reasonably TPO. Client would want to re-plant anyway. We'll have to ge for a heavy reduction regardless of the effects on the physiology.

I did suggest they plant a new tree ASAP. Not sure if they will stretch to picus, but I have asked someone better qualified than me to take a look at it. Even the best photos don't give as good a picture as seeing it in the flesh.
