First of all, hello!

Very informative forum!

Now to the main part of my post...

How stupid would I be to give up / go part time from a comfy (very very boring) office job, and go to buying a mobile mill?

Firstly a little background, i'm Forestry Commission trained, used to clear fell bits of lovely Scotland, but that was about 20 years ago :)

I am currently a hobbyist woodturner, and have a lot of the associated equipment already.

But is the work there to support me? I could continue part time in my job to pay the bills. I realize the initial outlay would be large. Not afraid of hard work.

Cheers. :001_smile:

The problem with staying fulltime (apart from the boredom), is that it leaves very little time to make money. Considering I would be trying to earn enough to pay the rent on the lockup / workshop and all other costs too. I was thinking I might make enough by milling/felling/woodturning/whatever else I can come up with :-)

whats your local competetion? dont forget with a mill you need obviously,1/timber to mill, 2/a loader?forklift or tractor,3/ storage,,(you`ll be suprised how quick you fill the yard,)

if you`ve got all that covered, and good contacts to sell the end product, then hey,,,sure beats office work, just not as consistant wages,,,,,speak to other tree surgeons, countryside services, ranagers etc, see if there interested , or go halfs on a mill?
