hey people

 

just wanted to know if anybody had any idea of splicing workshops in Australia, preferable Queensland , maybe I'm not talking to the right people but not sure where to go

 

help would be great thanks:biggrin:

Alot of people are self taught mate download some instructions from samson and start learning, there are three guys i know on here from melbourne Onelab, Broady and Ben R that all splice so they might be able to help you out with something

yea done some 16 strand fire, just an e2e for a rigging strop, had no splicing tools, just got some 1.25mm wire and a nail punch for a marlin spike,

Get some cheapo double braid sailing rope and have a go at a class 1 double braid splice mate. I hate 16 strand!!

Drew what do you think about doing one for our QAA arbor camp in September.

Rob (photographer) said you may be keen when we spoke at the NSW comp.

use the end of chainsaw file as a marlin spike. you can grab the basics from most sailing

shops. Palm needle pusher, whipping twine, needles. Also set yourself up with some pliers, scissors and a lighter. That should get you started on you splicing kit. It all depends how serious you want to get, but check out Arbshops online for the spicing gear.

i got a small crossheaded screwdriver and filed it down, makes a good spike with a comfy handle to work with

Hey Russ,

That would be cool bro-pretty sure we could get a heap of others to join in for it-Onelab, BenR, and Ewan to name a few. Im going to be in Canberra next week for 2 weeks contracting and then possible toowoomba after that for a month-when is the queensland camp?
