haha cheers guys, it is a fir, a Silver fir

I would say more Abies grandis than Abies procera

but... pictures aren't great so i'm not 100% sure, are the needles attached by a green sucker or woody peg?

Got any close upss of the needles?

Whats he on about?:001_rolleyes:

Im glad somebody knows what it could be I sat and went through a book I had on conifers and searched the net and could not find anything like it as your right it does appear rounded I came across a few but was not 100% sure and wanted others opinions on it I am going back out tomorrow hopefully so will get some better photo's of it and check the needles im guessing a sucker would be a more round attachment where as woody more straight pin like?will bring some more photos back with me :001_smile:

thanks for the help :thumbup1:

Just an update I went back and after plucking off a needle or two and looking closer at them can say they had suckers , pretty sure its a silver fir as Rob arb said it certainly fits the description of the Abies grandis more than the other Abies procera, thank you for the help :) the man was very pleased to find out what it was.:thumbup1:
