Bear cat CH922DH 9" chipper

A garden machinery dealers got one of these down the road from me for sale at a bit of a bargain. Anyone know if they're any good? they've only got the single feed roller. You never see anyone with them, is there a reason for that? Would be interested to know your thoughts...

I don't know anything about them but I do know all about my experience of buying a cheap chipper years ago. Cost a flipping fortune in the long run!

Although it wasn't a Bearcat so you'll have to make your own judgement.

Everything has its place in the market.

 

It may seem cheap but one should ask why. Not that it is stolen or useless but it maybe seem inexpensive because it is worth cock all because no one wants it.

 

Come a couple of years time when you want to trade it in for something else you may find that it is valued as scrap or worse still, nobody wants it at any price!

What year is it? Might not have any safety features to speak of. The starting procedure on that model is really annoying- Ie, Hold a lever with foot while pressing several buttons.

Apart from that the single feed roller is not a problem, Grabs very well. Heavy and bouncy to tow though.

Another consideration is spare parts availability when it goes wrong and ability to fix it quick.

Down time is super expensive.
