Am thinking of only having one bag out to show then the rest in the locked garage. Then putting out sign out for unseasoned logs and to knock on the door.

that'll do mate, you dont need to do much else. I have nets of logs and kindling at the end of my drive, logs are £6 a bag seasoned hardwood and about same size as yours (make £2 a bag) and kindling are £3.50 (again make around £2 a net). I have a box with little envelopes in and a sign with prices and saying put money in envelope and post through the door. that way no money left in pots etc.

I would say £5 for unseasoned chestnut now would be about right. In a hard winter £7 . Is it sweet chestnut or horse I find horse ok to burn on stove or open but very light when seasoned. Sweet chestnut spits like made on open fire.
