ABC Level 4 in arb/Tech cert

Hi,

 

I am trying to decide whether to do the abc level 4 course in arboriculture in September. I did the RFS course last year and really enjoyed it. Would happily do the course just for my own interest but was wondering what advantages it would give me in terms of employment, what it allows me to do in terms of tree inspections etc.

i am currently on that course having previously done a level2 and am finding it really good

 

as for getting a job i think thats more experience and things like proffesional tree inspection although im sure a level 4 will help alot

Hi Marco,

 

As Terry (BTW 'hello mate, hope you're well!') has said the level 4 arb will indeed serve you well in your present and future career in arb as it will both give you a much better understanding of the practices you are currently undertaking (making an assumption you're a craftsperson currently) and is alos the entry level qual, in effect, for tree surveys etc. later.

I will probably be doing this in September as well. I have'nt done the level 2 but when I spoke to Treelife and explained the degree I finished last year in landscape management they seemed happy that I could go straight into this. As stated on the website it will qualify you for assistant tree officer so with the 3 day PTI course I would certainly think public indemnity wise you could survey and inspect.

Might be a while before the level 6 is tackled though.

Cheers for the replies, reckon I'm going to do it. Yeah have got my eye on that level 6 as well but definitely not for a while! Want to get the theory as well as the practical so when I'm too old and achy to do the 'craft' side I have something to fall back on

Who is the best provider for this course, or is anyone trying to do it themselves

I will do it with Treelife, dont know who Apexarb is doing it with but a couple of people on here are doing it, one that I know with Treelife. Someone was kind enough to pm me a suggested reading list for this course, I had some of the books already but have started stocking up on books that will be of constant use anyway. Let me know if you want me to pass it on to you, quite extensive!
