Poison hi vi issues?

I have been climbing on my poison hi vi now since November using a michoacan hitch and have been loving it. However, yesterday I descended out of a 20metre oak nearly using the hole rope and came across what felt like a complete core failure about 3metres from the splice I never use. Sort advice from some more experienced colleagues and they both thought the rope had failed. So on contacting the sellers of the rope I was told it could be the rope milking and to cut the offending piece off...??? Aside from the fact that that is rope that I have payed for and it is all but new so reluctant to butcher it, it seems that they almost expected it with the hi vi if it was double spliced! Then why sell it as such? My main point is is the rope safe? I have lost my confidence in it because of this, I mean I don't really want to be finding this anywhere else but the end I rarely use, if you know what I mean? Has anyone else experienced this, is it ' normal' I.e. just the new composition of a new rope ( my colleagues are used to 16 mm old style rope) . I have been assured I have nothing to worry about ( on the phone) however what's the forum for if I can't set my mind at rest? Advice and criticism welcome.

I agree with Rupe.

Spliced eyes on both ends is a bad idea IMO because the sheath can't 'move freely' on the core.

Milking is normal on most ropes, some more than others. I think the reason your rope is 'flawed' 3m from the end is because both ends are spliced. I wonder if you cut the splice off now, the rope will continue to milk correctly down to the end and then you can tidy up the end as I did.

I've been using HiVee since December and had to cut about 8 inches off the end after it had finished milking. I was using a Lockjack until beginning of February, now use an HC with VT knot and a Rope Wrench.
