Anybody know if this is a dead engine, or minimal damage such as on the defender 300tdi? It has just happened to my Mum and she doesnt need that sort of bill at the mo....:001_huh:

Not a lot to fit a new belt and try it but I'd be surprised if it's ok. Wip the rocker cover off an the cam out,undo the bolts a bit at a time so as not to break the caps ,be sure to mark the retaining caps sequence, once the cam is out you should be able to check the valve heights.it's a fairly easy engine to work on. DIY job to repair if you have to.

Well mum had it towed to her garage by the RAC......I tyried to get her to bring it home as my mate in Plymouth is the worlds most amazing mechanic and works for next to nowt, but she will have to see what they say first.

Edit. I have an 1.4 carb engine out a 205 ,think their much the same. Head might be of use to you?
