If you have big trunks you need to get rid of, then you either stick a thread up on the forum here, or you ring your local sawmills. They come and have a look and if the trunk is any good they give you money, and if it isnt you ring it up for firewood or contact firewood merchants.

Re. Selling butts, I was given a number of a guy who was after some oak. We had a 42' diam by 9 ft oak butt, about 2.5t he gave us £300 and arranged his own haulage....

Measured up at the weekend, approx. 3.5m long and 1200 diameter. Theres a mill not too far away that might be interested and they come to pick it up with their own wagon.

 

Now I've got 2 problems. First one being I only have an 18" saw and the 2nd one being working out how I'm going to get it out of the field and up the lane to the road because the tractor won't be man enough to lift something like this :confused1:
