Heras fencing for log store?

Hi all, Happy new year :)

Looking into a log store this year, and i know there has been lots of previous threads, but i'm specifically asking about heras fencing.

Panels come 3.5mtr x 2mtr high, These seem cheap and effective at 25 quid a panel, but was hoping to see what you thought about the sides being so open to the elements with it being mesh, there is nothing to stop water/rain from the sides......

Is it still a good idea?

Cheers all, Chris

3 heras fences,3x2 roof covered with plastic corregated sheeting on the roof,in summer i leave the sides exposed,in winter i cover the sides with a roll of scaffold cover, keeps rain out and air circulating.job done.

That's brilliant re the tarps Jam - cheers: I've always struggled to find the size I really want - long and narrow to cover a pallet-based stack - but these are perfect; cheap too.

I'll look into secondhand Heras too; I've used reinforcing mesh panels (11'x6') for my own stack at home. The plus side with them is that you can drag logs out through them - you don't have to make gated access so to speak - but obviously that's no use in a commercial setting.

Happy New Year to you, yours and everyone here.

Jon

Happy new year to you to mate :thumbup1:

  • 1 year later...

made this recentley but after starting to fill with split wood the cack pannel is building out quite alot already, what so people tie the corners up with?

Also a bit wories that the mesh might come away from the frame as its only spot welded on.

i use the heres fencing without the rounded tops that way if you get some pipe that will fit over the legs and tops.cut 16 rings off the pipe an inch long, weld in pairs together like pairs of glasses and slip them over top and bottom, then all you need is a ratchet strap round the middle, hope this makes sense
