vermeer 620i chipper help

Hi people Iv got a vermeer 620i however the shock absorber for the coupling has stoped working it will push in and pull out by hand. So the brakes have stoped working!! Does any one know where i can get replacement parts? May thanks

What make of coupling is it? Knott?

I think its a German make after looking on the net for new parts. Its not a knott. Im based in Lincolnshire.

I had a 620, and the brakes were knott. Either way, the brakes arent a vermeer part, so you should be able to take it to ant trailer dealership hwo does repairs or fabrication and they can respring it for you, assuming its the spring that has gone (which bythe sound of it is the problem). You CAN do it yorself, but the spring is VERY powerful, so this is not advisable.

more likely a damper than a spring. find chassis plate then contact the manufacturer.

Trouble with that is that if you go to vermeer for what is an aftermarket (ie not made by them even though fitted at the factory) you will pay a fortune. Vermeer parts are VERY pricey.

I rang a black-smith near me but he carnt do anything till the new-year.

So i might take it apart and try to find some replacement parts.
