what is this bug(ger)?

could be a quick thread this one! some kind of bug/worm has been chomping its way through my ash firewood stock for the last few years,it bores in and leaves alot of dust but doesn't decimate the wood,if anything seems to speed up the drying process,whats it called?!

I plant some small platations in Ash for future firewood i loose one or two trees a year to this beetle, but i leave the wood in the plantation and do not take it to the woodyard as it would go through all the stacked cordwood.Same as rabbits if you fell some Ash leave some brashon the floor the rabbits eat this instead of the butts:001_smile:

thats interesting david,many thanks,i always think ash is overrated and overhyped anyway,i've got eucalyptus,blackthorn and lombardy poplar(yes really)sizzling away on my woodburner tonight and i'm sitting in my underpants(nearly!)the beetle can keep the ash :001_cool:
