My dad came very close to having his hand amputated when he was about 65. Hedgelaying thorn that very nearly defied all the hospital's treatment. His hand started to turn gangrenous after six months unable to work. Then it miraculously started to heal.

i got a blackthorn spike in my wrist must have gone into the joint because my hand started to swell up and after an hour or two it was massive and bloody sore! it started to swell up my forrearm too so i decided to venture into the hospital. the swelling came down after a few hours but it ached for a while!
