Hi Buzzsurgeon

There is no adjustment on the blade gap as this is a factory setting for each individual machine.

The blade gap should be between 2.5 - 3.0mm

If the gap is larger it could be because the anvil edge has been rounded off or the blades are beyond their usefull life.

To reset the gap :-

1. check the anvil and if it has a rounded edge and is excessivly worn the anvil will need to be replaced.

2. Check that your blades are sharp and ground to the correct angle, there is a wear line on the blades to indicate the natural life of the blade and blades should be sharpened to an angle of 40° with a hollow ground edge.

Trust this answers all you need to know.

Hi Buzzsurgeon

The reason we do not have shims fitted is due to human error.

Experience tells us that if you fit a shim it tends to get forgotten and when you eventually replace the worn out parts the shim is forgotten and not removed which results in a smash up plus it also does not allow a face to face contact between the roller box and the anvil which is require for the stress calculations for the conponents etc..

Therefore we do not recommend the use of shims for gap reduction in the anvil area of the machine.

Hope this answers your question.

Hi Buzzsurgeon

The shims you refer to are the ones fitted by the factory to set the gap.

These can be replaced if worn out but do not add any further shims in the bearing housing, the reason for the shims is due to the tolerances in the components and we found it necessary to fit them to maintain the gap required for efficient chipping.
