Cool! How are they joined to the stem?

 

Very fat pieces of oak dowel AND hefty stainless steel coach bolts. I counter sink an oversizee hole for the CBs and pre drill pilot holes. Finally I plug the counter sunk holes with oak dowel that match the grain so it's almost invisible.

The oak dowel is easy, just drill cap and stem to size. Have to do the coach bolt thing now due to injury litigation the summer before last when a 14 yr old climbed on one at an event , cap came off and they ended up with a broken leg....................
