Iv tried tachyon,p.i and blaze and I find p.i suits me best tachyon is just as good but doesn't feel so soft to grab. Samson velocity is a great rope but realy thin to grip, I do really recommend p.i tho

I didn't have fun with Velocity, was too thin and too hard i thought. Wouldn't hold properly, and went through the SJ like sh*t off a shovel. Maybe just takes getting used to, but after an hour or so of not enjoying it I went back to my Tachyon.

I retract this statement. I tried velocity gain last week, just playing, and it was ace. Works with the spiderjack so much better than tachyon. I was perhaps slightly scared by it last time... a new clutch and it's good.

Using an 11mm rope daily though, I could imagine that being bad on the hands? Perhaps I'm just being a girl, again, but grabbing skinny ropes...

Had a go with a spiderjack with yale imori. I've not tried any other types of rope with it but find that it does not self tend as well as seen in videos. Does the texture of imori not lend itself suitable for spiderjack use as well as other tighter weave ropes and perhaps smaller diameter stuff?

When higher in the tree it feeds pretty well. The one handed adjustment is invaluable and opens up a new way of climbing for me. If I get one, the rope choice will be crucial

You get used to it, a good pair of grippy gloves helps but not necessary. Some people can manage it some can't. If it hurts or you feel strain on tendons etc the cons outweigh the pros and you're better off with a thicker rope. Either way the SJ is an awesome device.
