Do you always use the timber hitch? i find it easier to just tie a running bowline and sometimes back it up with a half hitch. All good.

Yeh 2gb went no where:001_smile: cheers anyway, I use a R bowline on slippy stuff like Eucalyptus or if there is a good fork. I try to use slings now though dead simple.

Really? i would think the timber hitch would be better on the slippy stuff no? To me it has a better grip on the wood than the bowline and it would for sure be backed up with a half hitch on the slippy stuff.

Spot on with the slings though, also with a rigging plate and you can get a bunch of branches in the one go:thumbup1:

At 1.47 was it the camera angle or were you making hat top cut directly, under the rigging line? It looked a bit close....

yep thats why i ask questions to understand why people do it other ways. I think its always good to ask and be curious. If you dont then you get stuck always doing things one way which may not be the best. every day is a school day even if you have been doing it for 20 years or more:thumbup:
