Not sure if this is the right place to put this, but here goes...

 

Can anyone ID this fungi for me? It's under a Beech tree. There is another Beech tree adjacent that has a massive Meriplus giganteus underneath it...but this looks slightly different...:confused1:

 

Any help greatly appreciated - apologies if pic not good enough.

Went and had a look - it was well rotted now and smelt real bad - I did notice it had a stem though, this discounts it being Meriplus sp. I guess...?

By the look of the flesh it could be a Bolete sp.

 

:thumbup1: , possibly Boletus (= Xerocomus) badius, an ectomycorrhizal fungus associated with old deciduous and coniferous trees, that have (partially) lost their tree species specific symbionts.
